On Thursday 15 October 2020, we hosted TFN Rainbow on the eve of GiveOUT Day, a national day of giving to LGBTIQ+ communities. We heard inspiring stories from three remarkable non-profits and raised over $150,000!

Rainbow Families is the voice for and champion of LGBTQ+ families and prospective parents. The organisation advocates on behalf of the community, as a strong and consistent voice for LGBTQ+ families to address discrimination, raise awareness and promote acceptance. Rainbow Families provides support and resources and hosts events that connect LGBTQ+ families, particularly those that are feeling isolated because of social pressures, financial difficulty or where they live.
The organisation will be pitching at TFN Virtual Rainbow for funding to provide support to new LGBTQ+ parents who turn to Rainbow Families every week, particularly those who are feeling isolated because of COVID-19, social pressures, financial difficulty or where they live.

Meet the presenter: Ashley Scott, Executive Officer
Ashley has been an active and dedicated member of Rainbow Families since helping to start the organisation in 2015. He will be pitching for funding to provide support to new LGBTQ+ parents who turn to Rainbow Families every week, particularly those who are feeling isolated because of COVID-19, social pressures, financial difficulty or where they live.
Transgender Victoria is the leading body for trans and gender diverse advocacy, training, and resource development in Victoria. The organisation works to achieve justice, equity and inclusive service provision for trans and gender diverse people, their partners, families and friends. They pitched for funding to provide peer support, training and COVID-19 specific support to trans and gender diverse people from a range of intersectionalities who often experience extreme social isolation and challenges accessing housing, education, work, health services and legal representation. This will facilitate connection, inclusion and self-worth and assist in valuing gender diversity.

Meet The Presenter: Sally Goldner AM
Sally’s twenty year plus involvement in Victoria’s LGBTIQA+ communities includes Transgender Victoria, co-facilitating Transfamily and Bisexual Alliance Victoria Treasurer. She received an Order of Australia in 2019, the 2015 LGBTI Victorian of the Year and joined the Victorian Women’s Honour Roll in 2016.
The LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation was established with the purpose of promoting and protecting human rights by helping end domestic, family and intimate partner violence and abuse (DFV) within LGBTQ communities. The organisation increases visibility through an annual awareness campaign and advocates for and supports the empowerment of LGBTQ victims and survivors of DFV.
They will be pitching at TFN Virtual Rainbow for funding to build a LGBTI Domestic Violence Awareness Day Campaign.

Meet the presenter: Ben Bjarnesen, Founder
Ben is a passionate campaigner and educator and has worked tirelessly for over 10 years to improve services delivery to LGBTIQ communities. He is a surviving victim of Domestic Violence and in 2017 received a Churchill fellowship allowing him to travel internationally researching methods for police forces to enhance the way that they respond to domestic violence incidents in LGBTI communities. He will be pitching for funding to help end domestic, family and intimate partner violence and abuse (DFV) within LGBTQ communities by building on an LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Day campaign.
