  1. Project #1: Brewing for Change

Brewing for Change (a Long Street Coffee social initiative) provides life-changing opportunities for young refugees with three month hospitality traineeships focussing on the development of practical hospitality experience. The program enables young people seeking asylum to develop vital skills, to familiarise themselves with Australian workplace culture, and to secure ongoing employment. To continue to address the obstacles faced by young refugees in finding connection through employment, Brewing for Change are seeking funding assistance to expand their model into off-site catering to offer more opportunities for young refugees within the traineeship program. longstreetcoffee.com

    Presenter: Jane Marx
As a refugee rights advocate, Jane is passionate about supporting refugees to gain employment and training opportunities in Victoria. Also a believer in the power of business for social good, Jane combined the two and in 2015 co-founded Brewing for Change to provide young refugees practical experience in the hospitality industry.

  2. Project #2: Youthworx

Youthworx actively responds to the issue of youth homelessness and disengagement from education by providing both immersive training and meaningful employment for at-risk young people between the age of 15 – 25. Within Youthworx Media teachers, filmmakers and youth workers support young people to tap into their innate creativity and build high level skills in digital media production. Students then have the opportunity to kick-start their careers through employment within Youthworx Productions - a film production company producing meaningful, social impact content. Youthworx are seeking funding to invest in cutting edge film equipment, original project development and a Business Development role. Each of these areas will increase the capacity of the organisation to invest in the young people they work with and continue to bridge the gap between shelter and purpose. youthworxmedia.org.au

    Presenter: Jon Staley
Producer, writer and social entrepreneur, Jon has a longstanding commitment to using creative media to engage highly marginalised young people. Over the past 6 years, Jon has overseen the development and production of over 200 short films, whilst providing training and mentoring opportunities for young people in the industry and supporting them to tell their story.

  3. Project #3: Property Initiatives Real Estate (PIRE)

Property Initiatives Real Estate (PIRE) is a real estate agency specialising in property management in inner Melbourne. As a social enterprise initiative of Women’s Property Initiatives (WPI), all company profits generated from the real estate business are directed back to WPI to develop low-cost, safe, and long-term housing for at risk women and children. Funding assistance for this enterprise would provide increased options for rent roll acquisition, and by building on PIRE's property portfolio enable the business to become viable in order to divest company profits into the WPI program, and thus providing long-term housing solutions to address the issue of homelessness and housing affordability. propertyinitiatives.com.au

    Presenter: Kristie Looney
A licensed estate agent by trade, with extensive experience in residential property management, Kristie is using her skills for good and shaking up the property industry at the same time. Through PIRE's social enterprise model, Kristie is committed to providing affordable housing solutions for at-risk women and children, many of whom are escaping domestic violence.
