AMP once again partnered with TFN to showcase the wonderful work of their three new community partners in Sydney. A generous audience pledged over $80K for Vanguard Laundry; The Stroke Association of Victoria; and First Australians Capital. Thanks to everyone who joined us for this exciting event and pledged their support to these three extraordinary organisations.

  1. Project #1: Vanguard Laundry Services

    Vanguard Laundry Services (VLS) is a social enterprise commercial laundry based in Toowoomba, purpose built to provide jobs and career opportunities for people with an experience of mental illness who struggle to secure work. They are seeking funds to contribute to new equipment required for the laundry that will help further growth in new local agriculture markets creating more jobs and career opportunities for people who have been long term unemployed because of mental illness. vanguardlaundryservices.com.au

     Presenter: Luke Terry

    A true social entrepreneur, Luke has an impressive career been building and scaling social enterprises locally and internationally for over 10 years. As the Executive Director of Vanguard Laundry Services, Luke is committed to providing employment and training opportunities for long-term unemployed people with an experience of mental health. He believes in the power of the positive ripple effects of paid employment for marginalised people; providing security, economic wellbeing and an opportunity for social engagement. 

  2. Project #2: Stroke Association of Victoria

    The Stroke Association of Victoria is a dedicated provider of community-based peer support for stroke survivors and carers. With a focus solely on non-clinical support through collaborative partnerships and volunteer support, they are seeking funding to deliver twelve training workshops that will train carers to help stroke survivors who are re-integrating into the community to lead a life post stroke. The workshops would include training in activities of daily living (ADL), mood and mental health monitoring (coping mechanisms), and peer support mentoring. strokeassociation.com.au

    Presenter: James Garland

    James has a varied and extensive career in the non-profit sector, working across many areas including education, disability, community development and child protection. As the Acting Executive Director of the Stroke Association of Victoria, James is dedicated to providing holistic support for stroke survivors re-starting their lives and regaining their independence. James also chairs the biannual CEO forum for non-profit leaders.

  3. Project #3: First Australians Capital

    First Australians Capital (FAC) was established to support the growth of Indigenous enterprises by providing access to capital and support. One of the biggest barriers Indigenous entrepreneurs face is lack of access to finance and FAC is seeking help to raise funds to invest in Indigenous enterprises as patient capital until they are able to access mainstream lending or investment. Funding will support FAC's operations and contribute to the cost of developing a short video to attract further funding and impact investors. firstaustralianscapital.org

    Did you know Indigenous Australians are three times more likely to be unemployed than non-Indigenous Australians and only one in seven Indigenous Australians are in highly skilled occupations? As a proud Aboriginal woman born and raised on the lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, Jocelyn is passionate about supporting the growth and prosperity of Indigenous business, as a powerful driver to tackle social disadvantage. In her role as CEO of First Australians Capital she is enabling the economic development of Indigenous communities.
