Media Policy

The Funding Network welcomes coverage and support from the media. As a non-profit organisation we rely on positive editorial in both traditional and digital/social channels to enhance the word-of-mouth advocacy that we enjoy from our supporters and guests. Our mission to 'broaden the culture of giving' will only be achieved if we communicate our innovative proposition to a wide mainstream audience.

However, the giving of money to charitable organisations is a very personal act. Some of our guests are delighted to be giving publicly and celebrate it openly. But for some it is a more intimate gesture. In fact, although our events are open to anyone, some donors choose to make silent pledges instead of raising their hand and stating their name in front of the crowd.

Out of respect then for our guests, we ask any media representatives (journalists, bloggers, photographers, authors, reporters, etc.) who are interested in attending a TFN event in a professional capacity to please follow these simple guidelines:

  1. Inform TFN in advance if you want to attend and cover an event, and for which publications/channels, so we can arrange free-of-charge registration for you.
  2. Refrain from taking your own photographs as we always have a professional photographer at each event and we can supply images to your brief should you require them. If you want to film the event please discuss with us in advance.
  3. If you would like to speak on-the-record with any of the presenting organisations, guests, TFN staff or our partners, please let us know in advance and we’ll be happy to arrange an interview with appropriate people.
  4. Please ask us in advance if you want to publish the names of any guests or donors so that we can ask their permission.
  5. If you would like to personally interview Lisa Cotton, anyone from our partner/supporter organisations, or anyone from the presenting non-profit organisations, please let us know and we can facilitate a suitable time and place separate from the busy event evening itself.

To discuss this or any other questions you might have, please contact us.
